Club Structures on Clubhouse is a whole new world. It is now more than a year into my own journey on Clubhouse and I have changed how I look at Clubs. As new features come out the strategies have opportunity for changing. We now have ways to reach more people so, let’s take a look at a few questions you may want to ask yourself about creating a Club space for your communities too!
NOTE: This article/post originally posted on Medium – Republished here with Author’s Permission

Here are a few questions you will want to ask yourself when creating a club or thinking about creating one!

Q. Why am I having this club?
Q. What is the purpose?
Q. What is the message?
Q. How much discipline do you want to enforce in your rooms?
Q. Will they all be same?
Q. Will you have an over arching structure for the rooms in the club?
Q. Who are you wanting to reach?
Q. How will you use web listening to reach a greater audience?
Q. Will you create rooms that are open to members only?
Q. How often will the club have rooms?
MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
Who do we want to reach?
What are their needs?
If you want it to be open membership. [JOIN Button]
Immediate approval upon clicking the JOIN button {Open to All}
When you want membership to be: [Apply to Join] Request is sent to the admins for approval. {by Approval} [toggle on for Anyone can apply]
There are a couple more options that we can look at after we have chose which of the above two options we want to use.
Do you want your club to be Invite Only — by Approval — no button to join.
Optional Member List is Public is only available when the by Approval option is on.
NOTE: As of the creation of this article. Members of and Invite only club still have the ability to nominate others into the club. One feature tweak I am going to suggest that is if the Toggle for Anyone Can Apply is OFF that it would be invite only by the admins of the club only.
Choices Leadership Structure within Clubs:
Creator — the items that you are able to do as the person that created the club are: to Delete the Club and/or Submit for renaming the club via a special request form. If you need this form look over on Clubhouse Support site for help.
Admins — These folks are able to approve membership requests in an apply to join or invite only club structure. One other thing that Club admins can do it close the room from the audience. If the room is not following your pre-set outline or structure that you have announced you will have the ability to close rooms even from the audience. This protects your club from being abused if you are allowing all members to start rooms.
Leaders— These are able to create rooms on the calendar and open up rooms to the public. Although sometimes when you open it up to the public you may lose the link to the club space. You will be notified before you say a final yes that it will open the room up and drop the club name.
Members — this is everyone else in the club — and remember you can choose whether or not you have room creation turned on for all members or not. Enjoy!
TIP: You may want to consider listing who the creator of the club is in the club description. Sometimes the order of the members is getting shuffled. Also there is no determiner if you are the creator of the club or an admin. Having that information will be helpful for those joining the club. At the time of the writing of the article it is useful and helpful to follow the club founder. Following the founder helps when rooms are opened by them as you will get a notification in your activity panel. Notifications come in the app as well as to your phone if you have that setting turned on.
How Clubs Show Up On Your Profile – as of the Posting of this Blog Post
Currently the way a club show up in the sort order of the clubs.
- Highest activity where you are the creator or admin
- Most active where you are an admin followed by clubs in the same manner — most active where you are a leader come next
- Membership only clubs again sorting of the clubs is by looking at which ones are the most active clubs.
So, if you are an admin in a club that is more active than you are then that club may be pushed to the front of the line. If you are an Admin of a Club that is more active than the club you created that club will show at the front of the Club listings.
Here are some tips shared by a few folks in a room earlier today about what you can do for making great use of replays for Business Owners.
Create a Room and Share a verbal Sampling of Your Business Offers for 2022 — think of of it as a what’s coming soon for offerings — then do these things:
Clubhouse Share — Share the LIVE room and the replay room on Clubhouse!
Linked In Shares — reach people not on Clubhouse — Share on other social media platforms with the use of web listening this is now possible and the listener does not even have to download the app! When you share on LinkedIN — Facebook — Twitter — Pinterest — Instagram and others you now give opportunity for listeners to respond via comments and you will be growing all your channels activity and engagement too! Woohoo! So good…
Other ways you can share your rooms outside of Clubhouse App:
Set Up Events for Your Upcoming Rooms on
Linked IN Events — FB Events — Send it to your Email lists!
Share LIVE Room Listen In only via Messenger/DMs!
Texting the Link to Your Friends to Listen LIVE!
NOTE: Web Listening Counts will not weigh in on hallway prioritisation. Listening counts will likely be a target for some to create a false sense of popularity through people trying to game the system. As a creator that wants to have the web listening reach for sure available, I am willing to push past that downside and keep on creating great content and fun shows for you to see and listen into.
The photo at the start of this article is of 6 of the Clubs in which were created and some of these had regular rooms during 2021 others will be launched a bit more in 2022 and others yet may be on hold til a team is found that will run with the space. There are a few different rooms hosted regularly in my own clubs. As well, I hang out as a co-host or hang out as a member of the some rooms like the New Zealand Club and other rooms where I am singing and all that jazz! When I am in a room listening I may or may not jump on the stage to contribute to the conversations… yet, my presence there is a contribution in and of itself!
These notes are from a weekly room that is held in the LOL Live Online Learning Club — where we Lean On Laughter while we Learn Out Loud! Come on over and join in our rooms! Click here to listen to the replay that is listed below in the graphic!
