Product Release:
The big release was not put out, therefore, some items were rolled out and that update that happened which appeared empty included:
- Club Suggestions will now be showing in the hallway.
- Clubs that are active
- Clubs that cover the topics chosen in interests
NOTE: If you have not chosen or adjusted your interests now would be a good time to do that. That is in your Settings Panel.
Clubs is a way for you to discover the kind of conversations you want to hear about. Not to mention: a REMINDER to Find Clubs that you may be interested in go to Explore Panel to Search for:
Keywords, Interests, Locations, Author/Speaker/Singer-etc
Club Carousel in the hallway is the first step to let you know about the clubs! Thus making this a quicker process for all of us to find the great rooms we want to see and listen to.
Trending Rooms: Popular Rooms are now more connected to your interests. (retaining people well, in your language, popular in your country and related to topics you have stated you are interested in on this app. You may start seeing more of those rooms in your hallway.)
Clubhouse Anniversary Balloon Badges – on your app avatar (profile pic – in room) In the light of these badges I bet we are going to see more anniversary parties! We all know that we love a great party! So, Yay

Q&As with Anu and Paul
- Will you be releasing all new features to everyone or only to a small group of people first? (Paul’s reframe: When do we do roll out to everyone, and when do we do it in a more staged way?
- Decision based on how quickly feature can be delivered. Smaller features to everyone that are in their final form.
- Items in progress of being developed are often delivered to a smaller group of users to test out the feature and see what adjustments need to be made before delivered to everyone. (watching for user experience impact when they roll it out to 1-10% first) items it could include are:
- Carousels in the feed
- Ranking changes
- Onboarding Experiences Changes
- Sharing Flow
- Invite Flow
- (you may see things that look a bit different from time to time. It allows for development of the product to make it better for everyone in the long run)
Roll Out Strategies
- Roll things out on one platform is another strategy sometimes iOS first sometimes Android First – whichever is the best platform to do that first on – how the platform works. Non US user based skews towards Android.
- Make adjustments based on feedback and use data.
- Philosophy is that we bring everything to feature parody
- Larger features may be rolled out to a smaller subset to see how it will work. Such as: Payments for example. Reasons we do this are:
- Learning how it affects the experience – ability to adjust easier
- Big Changes that could introduce bugs – ability to fix quicker
- Regulatory reasons per Country mandates/laws
- Rollouts to everyone when the new feature will not work with previous versions that do not have that feature. DMs for example.
FINAL NOTE from Paul: We try and go as fast as we can. Sometimes that means rolling out to everyone at once. Sometimes it means running as an experiment or testing on one platform first or rolling it out in waves. But the goal is always to get it out to everyone as best we can.

Discovery Questions:
- Is there any way to see the entire list of events that I have RSVP’d to?
- Not at this time. You can only see the upcoming in next 24 hours. (there is no way to do that right now, but there should be a way to do that and we’re going to be making some improvements to that. Keep your eyes out for sing beyond the question and in upcoming releases it’s not, it’s not defined in scope right now, but I 100% aligned like we should let you do that, and we will let you do that.)

- Triggers a notification for you when the room starts.
- Adds it to the list of events you see at the top of the hallway
- Helps to notify system that this events popular – will feed out to more.

- Furthermore, can you tell us why some of the green toast notifications show up in the activity area in some do not? It is sometimes frustrating to see the notice flash across the top of the screen but not have time to respond or read it afterwards? (This is my Question! Yay! LOL)
- The main category of ones that don’t show up in the Activity tab, are ones for rooms, because if you tap on the notification, it just takes you directly to the room. Moreover, if you open your hallway, then you should just see the room. And so we don’t, we don’t repeat them because we don’t want to have repetitive content across activity in the hallway.
- Some things need reworking as the toasts with button notifications if they come one after the other only the top one shows the other is gone.
- also when a room ends, we remove that from Notification Center on iOS so that you don’t show up with a bunch of missed room notifications.
Finding Where Your Friends Are
- Could you make it possible to put the current room, someone is in on their profile? Also, could you show all the scheduled rooms on our profiles?

- Can we create lists of users that we can suggest to our friends to follow or let them easily follow many people at once for a specific topic? Such as: A bundle of users to suggest as opposed to one.
- Lists – I don’t know what my perspective is on that, On one hand, I get it, it’s like lighter weight and easier to do on the other hand, it’s less intentional. (feel like when you follow someone. And it wasn’t an explicit choice that you made. It can be a weird experience you’re getting notified about these people who are talking and you don’t really know why you’re getting notified or who they are. You see rooms in the hallway you don’t know why you’re seeing those rooms in the hallway.) That feels better, but I don’t know if that’s the right answer but that’s why we do it the way we did today.

Goal: Getting You Into Rooms with People that Share Niche Topics is Important. Options:
- Expand taxonomy – different topics listed. (Constant changes needed)
- Free Text Topics – like hashtags (downfall – misspellings, created, etc)
- Machine Learning Clustering
[ I don’t think having a topic taxonomy, like an enumerated list of topics that covers everything in the world that people don’t want to talk about, I don’t think that’s the right long term scalable way to do it so we’re looking at other ways to do it, But it’s a really high priority for us. ~Paul Davison]

Birthday Fun?
- I know you don’t collect our birthday info now, but it feels like something fun, we could add in our settings. Could you also just collect the day and month for those who don’t want to reveal their age?
- It’s not just revealing your age there could also be security concerns if people know your birthday, it might make it easier for, for them to do bad things. And so that’s why we’d want to be careful about encouraging people to just broadcast their actual birthday so publicly to so many people.
How to Get More Involved…
- How can I get more involved in speaking in rooms, what are some suggestions for getting months to notice or let you speak on a stage?
- The more complete your profile is, the more information you can give to the moderators on stage, the more likely they will feel like they know enough to decide to call you up.
